PT Fastana Logistik Indonesia (FLI) is an international standard transportation and logistics service provider company. In 2018, FLI had 133 vehicles (130 wing boxes and 3 double deck big mama wing boxes) and 115 drivers. FLI is controlled by 2 warehouse units with an area of more than 1.45 hectares and more than 20,143 pallet capacity. FLI has dozens of clients including Unilever, P&G, Frisian Flag, and Dulux. PT Fastana Logistik Indonesia has an office in Ciracas, East Jakarta.
Problem: There is no Full Control on Each Vehicle Unit
PT Fastana Logistik Indonesia (FLI) found it difficult to obtain real-time detailed information on each of its fleets, such as unit positions, arrival estimates, ongoing activities, and others. It is feared that this will lead to miscommunication and recording errors in each activity unit.
In addition, FLI also has difficulty getting an estimate of the load carried by each fleet, so that it can have an impact on excess cargo which endangers trips or causes losses due to damage to the fleet. A solution is needed that can make it easier for companies to fully monitor all vehicles at any time, from location to load weight.
Solution: Implementation of Fleet Management System and Freight Load Monitoring
PT Fastana Logistik Indonesia as a company that provides international standard transportation services, of course, wants to continue to fully control each of its fleets. Every asset needs to be monitored properly and in real-time to get the latest information and avoid unwanted things.
Therefore, a Fleet Management System is implemented that utilizes IoT (Internet of Things) which is able to read real-time fleet conditions starting from location, speed, status, and more. This data is then sent to a dashboard which will provide up-to-date information from each fleet. This dashboard is also very easy to access anytime and anywhere by operators to monitor the entire fleet through an easy-to-understand display.
To accommodate the company's needs in knowing the cargo load, FLI implements Freight Load Monitoring, a system that helps read estimated cargo weight with an accuracy rate of up to 95%. The estimation data is then sent to the same dashboard and displayed directly to get the latest information about payload. This system can also be read if there is an increase or decrease in load during the trip, avoiding extortion or fraud during the trip.
